Live Shows

From the team that set up and ran the hugely successful “Let’s Dance” shows at the Brighton Dome for 12 years, we formed the Let’s Dance charity to act as a focal point for managing organisation of the shows in Sussex and beyond.  Our high quality shows offer performance and leadership opportunities for the young people through the production and choreography of the shows and linking them to external clubs. Primary, secondary, FE colleges, universities and SEN schools are invited to enter one dance to perform at a main venue in the city. Typically, a maximum of 18 schools perform each night creating a different show on each evening.

LET’S DANCE shows are completely egalitarian and schools/groups are encouraged to enter irrespective of ability. The hope being that young people will perform, enjoy and carry on dancing beyond their LET’S DANCE experience.

What We’ve Achieved So Far

Since our inception in 2019, our shows have gone from strength to strength. Due to the Covid Pandemic, we sadly had to cancel what would have been our first shows in Birmingham and Eastbourne in 2020. But we very quickly adapted and moved our activities online so young people could continue to dance and connect with each other throughout lockdown. We developed multiple series of Online Classes which are still used by many schools and groups for remote and in person PE/Dance lessons. Following our successful inaugural live show at the Congress Theatre in Eastbourne in 2022, we were immediately offered a 2 night slot for 2023 which was a great success. We also partnered up with Marina Studios Foundation to set up our first Let’s Dance show at The Hawth Theatre in Crawley, featuring 14 schools and groups.

In 2024 we had 36 schools/groups and 785 dancers taking to the stage over two nights in the heart of Eastbourne’s Theatre Land. The shows were enjoyed by nearly 2,000 audience members comprising proud parents, families and friends of the young dancers as well as local dignitaries. For many of the young people and families this was their first experience of attending the Theatre. For 2025 we are planning more shows, including 1 and 2 April at the Congress. More information to follow.
